Chris is gone

I can’t say I’m surprised that Chris Daughtry was eliminated from American Idol on Wednesday. I’m glad Katherine survived because, as I wrote yesterday, it would have been blatantly unfair for her to be booted after a night in which the contestants were required to sing Elvis Presley songs. I can’t think of a artist who would be more difficult to pull off for a female singer.

There are a lot of people who really like Taylor Hicks. And there are many who don’t like him. I’m in the latter camp; I think it would be a shame for him to win. I’m pulling for Katherine and I could accept Elliott. But Taylor? No thanks.

I’m still in shock. I can’t beleive Chris is gone. I’m sure that he’ll come out smelling like a rose and get a record contract and sell a million records - that’s my only consolation at this point. I was really rooting for him to go all the way.

I can’t believe you’re not shocked that Chris is gone. I, a huge American Idol fan, am going to throw in my conspiracy theory here — Fox is trying to make Idol even more interesting and suspenseful by making sure someone like Chris got voted off. Kind of like on 24 — no one is safe. Chris should have won the whole thing. He’s talented and oh-so-dreamy.

Cingular, which sponsors the show, had a data outage Tuesday evening. Those who used Cingular to text votes did not get their votes through until the voting had closed. I wonder what the outcome would have been if the outage had not occurred. Katherine should have gone, not
chris. My votes on Taylor now. jay
