American Idol

This process takes forever and it’s definitely been in a rut the past few weeks as contestants are eliminated one by one.

Tonight’s show didn’t have many high points. And I’m still convinced that Katherine and Chris are headed for a showdown in the finals.

Elliott Yamin should be eliminated Wednesday, although I’m afraid it might be Paris. I think Paris has a chance to become the biggest star out of this bunch, but her style doesn’t really fit this show. She’s too good for American Idol, actually.

Notice how the judges were much more subdued tonight. Wouldn’t you like to know what goes on behind the scenes? Paula, especially, seemed like a shell of her former self after last week’s emotional train wreck.

A new face

People are asking me why I shaved the beard from my face and I don’t think I have a good answer. I was eating dinner with my friend, Denise, and her kids recently and her daughters, I believe, and the subject of my facial hair came up. Someone in the group wondered what I would look like without it.

I didn’t really know; it’s been years since my face has been hairless. But yesterday, I shaved it all off. My hope was that I would look 10 years younger. Well, I might look 10 minutes younger. I don’t know about this. Denise hasn’t even seen it yet, but several friends have. The reaction was pretty mixed. Mostly it was: "Oh my god, I haven’t ever seen you without some facial hair.” There was no: "My goodness, you look like Ben Affleck.”

But I figure I’ll give it a week and see what happens. At least Bruce Haertl, my radio partner, likes the new look. He’s funny that way, always checking me out.
