No more Edgar

The best thing about 24 is the killing. That didn’t sound very nice, but if you watch the show you know where I’m coming from.

Nobody is safe, which can build tremendous tension among the television show’s fan base.

On Monday night’s two-hour episode, which skipped by quickly because of the show’s fast-paced nature, good ol’ CTU computer expert Edgar Stiles was a victim of nerve gas, released by a Russian terrorist who infiltrated the counter-terrorism unit’s office building.

It doesn’t do a lot for more confidence in America’s security that a bad guy can steal a key card and gain access to what should be the most locked down place on the planet. But just when I really start to freak out, I remind myself this is just a television show and not real life. But just when I start to feel better, I remember that George Bush is the president and that isn’t a TV show.

Anyway, I’m sorry to lose Edgar. But I’m glad this show holds nothing back and that it has the intestinal fortitude to knock off one of its main characters for the good of the plot.

Best show on TV, hands down.
