Hawker Beechcraft hires turnaround specialist as CEO; Boisture to remain chairman

Hawker Beechcraft announced that it has hired as CEO a man who has spent his career restructuring troubled companies.

The company’s board of directors appointed Robert “Steve” Miller as CEO of Hawker Beechcraft Inc., effective today.

Bill Boisture remains chairman of Hawker Beechcraft Corp.

In a 2008 autobiography, Miller calls himself the “turnaround kid.”

“If there’s been a company in trouble in the last 20 or 30 years, he may have had some assistance or role in it,” Mike Wall, a research analyst told Bloomberg in 2010.

Miller is currently chairman of the board of American International Group and a director of Symantec. He’s led rescue efforts at Bethlehem Steel, Delphi Corp. and Waste Management and helped in numerous other high-profile turnarounds.

He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Stanford University and a law degree from Harvard Law School.
