Hawker Beechcraft’s machines, tools and other equipment used at its Salina facility will be auctioned Dec. 20 at the plant, according to the company conducting the sale, Stuart B. Millner & Associates.
The auction will also be live through the Internet, it said.
Hawker Beechcraft is auctioning machine tools, handling equipment and other items as the company closes its Salina facility to consolidate and cut costs.
For years, the Salina plant has built wings, spar assemblies and other assemblies. Half of the work is moving to Hawker Beechcraft’s facility in Mexico. The remainder will go to outside suppliers and vendors, the company has said.
In 2009, the Salina plant employed about 500 people. When Hawker Beechcraft announced the closure in Nov. 2010, employment had declined to 240.
The auction will include the sale of horizontal milling machines, drills, jigs, routers, work benches, roller conveyers, grinders and material handling items, according to Stuart B. Millner’s website. The sale begins at 10 a.m.
