Report: Delta planning order of 100 Boeing jets

Delta Air Lines is planning to order 100 Boeing 737-900 extended range single-aisle Boeing jets, two people familar with the matter told Bloomberg News.

The airline’s board is expected to vote on the purchase later this week, Bloomberg said.

The order would be a boost for Boeing, which last month lost out as an exclusive jet provider for American Airlines. American split a large jet order between Boeing and its rival Airbus.

The order would also benefit Spirit AeroSystems, which builds the 737 fuselage in Wichita.
