Cessna wins $88.5 million defense contract

Cessna Aircraft will be building aircraft for the U.S. Air Force under a new firm-fixed-price contract from the 877th Aeronautical Systems Group at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

The contract is for six Cessna 182T aircraft, 26 208B aircraft, six aircrew training devices and interim contractor support for aircraft and training devices in Afghanistan and advisor training.

The items are for the Afghanistan Basic Trainer/Light Lift family of systems, according to the Department of Defense.

This effort supports foreign military sales to Afghanistan, the DOD said.
