Aviation officials will be in Wichita this week for the 79th annual National Association of State Aviation Officials convention at the Hyatt Regency.
The convention, called “Aviation 2020 and Beyond: A Clear Vision for the Future,” opens Saturday and runs through Tuesday.
The purpose of the group is to “create consensus among its members in promoting a safe and responsive air transport system.”
Guest speakers include Federal Aviation Administration senior vice president of NextGen Vicki Cox, Transportation Security Administration general manager for general aviation Brian Delauter and former NASA chief of staff and current Virgin Galactic CEO George Whitesides.
Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer and Greensburg Mayor Bob Dixon will host a luncheon called “Greensburg, Kansas – a Partnership to Build Green.”
Ed Young, director of Kansas Department of Transportation’s division of aviation, will host a forum called “Airport Community and Media Outreach: Building a Foundation for Effective Relationships.” The forum will focus on how to foster communication between aviation officials and the public.
