Wichita Mid-Continent Airport launches summer vacation photo contest

Wichita Mid-Continent Airport is asking travelers to send over their summer vacation photos for a chance to win two round-trip tickets from the airport to any destination in the continental U.S.

The photos may be displayed on the airport’s website or on its Facebook page. They should be from trips originating from Wichita Mid-Continent Airport.

Submit the photos by uploading them to the airport’s Facebook page.  A contest tab on the Facebook page gives the information.

The contest runs through August 14.

Open house to show off terminal tower renovations at Kansas Aviation Museum

Now that renovations on the historic Wichita Air Terminal tower are completed, the Kansas Aviation Museum is planning an open house to show them to the public.

Museum staff, volunteers and local contractors added a new roof, ceiling, tinted windows, flooring in the tower and stairs and fresh paint.

The open house will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 5.  It’s free. Attendees will also be able to tour the entire museum for no charge.

An exhibit will feature equipment used when the tower was in operation beginning in May 1935. It will include displays about the tower’s history and panoramic photos.
