AirTran Airways agents reject union representation

AirTran Airways‘ customer service, ramp and reservations agents turned down representation this week by the International Association of Machinists, the airline said.

The National Mediation Board notified AirTran that it dismissed the union’s petition calling for an election because the number of agents signing cards requesting one did not hit the required 35 percent.

It’s the fifth time since 1998 that the group has rejected union representation.

Kansas Aviation Museum to hold open house

The Kansas Aviation Museum will host its annual open house from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10, at 3350 S. George Washington.

Visitors can check out renovations that have been made to the children’s activity center, replication of original stenciling on the atrium ceiling, addition of five new exhibits and the dedication of a sixth one during the open house, the museum says.

The new exhibit details the history of Wichita’s first air terminal, now the museum’s home. A video produced in partnership with KPTS Channel 8 will be unveiled that evening.

The open house is free and open to the public.
