Analyst: Textron not a good fit for Raytheon

You’ve likely heard the rumors circulating this week that Cessna Aircraft’s parent company, Textron, might be for sale. The rumors have boosted Textron stock. The volume of shares on Tuesday was double that of an average day.

Two names of interested parties in Textron have been swirling — Lockheed Martin and Raytheon Co.

Cowen and Co. analyst Cai von Rumohr this week, however, said that Raytheon would not be interested in Textron. After all, Raytheon sold off its aircraft division in 2007, which formed Hawker Beechcraft Corp.

“Raytheon isn’t going to do it,” Von Rumohr said. “They sold Hawker Beechcraft…. (And) they don’t want to get into helicopters (or) finance,” two of Textron’s other divisions.

Eclipse 500 service battle heats up

Tuesday afternoon, Eclipse Owners Group announced that it’s working on an agreement with Hawker Beechcraft to provide service and maintenance for Eclipse 500 aircraft should it be successful in buying the assets of bankrupt Eclipse Aviation.

Late Tuesday night, another group vying for the assets, Eclipse Jet, announced that it has an agreement with logitics and management organization Eclipse Service Network to form a network of service centers. Eclipse Jet is also in discussions with service providers in Europe, it said.
