Eclipse Aviation

Financially troubled Eclipse Aviation said it’s received European certification of its Eclipse 500 very light jet. It’s also received Federal Aviation Administration for the plane’s Avio avionics suite.

The approvals demonstrate the Eclipse 500 “continues to meet regulatory and safety requirements around the world,” the company said in a statement.

Earlier this month, Eclipse scrambled to find financing to meets it payroll.

All of this doesn’t make much difference if they are not going to be able to resume production. Any rumors on a possible buyer for the company?

I don’t see any buyers for this company, but there are always some seedy characters that will try to “move” it to another location. They target cities that are desperate to kickstart their local economies. The cities pony up cash, training funds, facilities and initial operating income. Luscombe and Tiger Aircraft are a couple of examples.

I see Eclipse Aviation shut down rather quickly.

A side note: Has any of us seen so much hype on a start-up before? In hindsight the whole DayJets/Eclipse relationship appears almost orchestrated…

    All the best!
